A profile to monetize
Your email ties every question you ask to a marketing identity: mailing lists, upsells and, increasingly in 2026, personalized ads inside the chat itself.
Most “free” AI chats still want an email, a phone number or a full account before you can type a single word. Here is why they ask, what “no login” really hides, and how NOLO gives you free AI without ever asking who you are.
If a product is free and demands an identity, your identity is part of the price.
Your email ties every question you ask to a marketing identity: mailing lists, upsells and, increasingly in 2026, personalized ads inside the chat itself.
Many free tiers use your conversations to train future models by default. The sign-up is what links that training data to a person.
Some tools skip the login but still log your IP or fingerprint your browser. What matters is what gets stored, for how long, and whether it trains on you.
How NOLO compares with using a big-name AI chat while logged out.
| What you get | NOLOno account, ever | Big-name AI, logged outChatGPT, Copilot & co. |
|---|---|---|
| Works without an accountno email, no phone | Always. An anonymous ID in your browser is your access, even on paid plans. | Often, but with reduced features and limits designed to push you to sign up. |
| Where your history liveswho keeps your chats | On your device only. NOLO's servers never store chat content. | Usually nowhere (lost on close) or on the provider's servers once you sign in. |
| Trains on your chatsthe real price of free | No. Zero-data-retention infrastructure; the model makers never see your messages. | Depends on the provider; several train on free-tier conversations by default. |
| Ads in the chatthe 2026 trend | No ads, ever. NOLO is paid for by its plans, not by your attention. | Arriving in free tiers, personalized using the topic of your conversation. |
| Web search, images, documentsthe useful stuff | Included without an account: real-time search, image generation, files and presentations. | Mostly login-gated; logged-out modes are stripped down. |
| Upgrade without an emailif you ever want more | Yes. Plans attach to your anonymous ID; Stripe handles payment, NOLO never learns your identity. | Impossible. Paying means an account, an email and a billing profile. |
The usual free AI plan is a funnel, and you are the lead.
A real free plan with real limits, stated up front.
Yes. NOLO works with no sign-up at all: the first time you open it, an anonymous ID is created in your browser and that is your access. No email, no phone number, no password — on the free plan and on paid plans alike.
With NOLO it stays in your browser's storage, on your device. NOLO's servers never store your conversation content, so there is no account database where your questions accumulate.
Not always. Some no-login tools still log IP addresses or fingerprint your browser. NOLO publishes exactly what leaves your device and what its servers keep on its transparency page, so you can verify it yourself in the browser's network panel.
The honest one: the free plan runs gpt-oss-20b, a good open-weights model but not a frontier model like the top ChatGPT or Claude models, and it has a daily token allowance. The allowance resets every day, and there are no ads and no training on your chats.
Yes. Paid plans attach to the same anonymous ID. Payment goes through Stripe, and NOLO never stores your card or learns your identity — no email is required even when paying.
No login, no email, no tracking. Open NOLO and start typing — that is the whole onboarding.
