Terms of Service

Terms for serious use.

What NOLO is and is not, what you are responsible for, how subscriptions work on the web and on Google Play, what you can do about a charge you regret, and where our liability ends.

Plain-language summary: NOLO is an AI workspace, not a professional adviser. AI gets things wrong, so verify anything that matters. You own what you write and you are responsible for what you submit and what you do with the output. Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and where you cancel depends on where you bought: in Google Play if you subscribed inside the Android app, in NOLO's billing portal if you subscribed on the web. If you are a consumer in the EU you have a 14-day right of withdrawal, explained in section 11 without weasel words.

1. Agreement to these terms

By using NOLO you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. There is no account to close. Simply stop using it and delete your local data.

If you use NOLO on behalf of a company, client, firm or organisation, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms on its behalf and to submit any content you submit for processing by the providers listed in the Privacy Policy.

2. Who you are contracting with

NOLO is an independently operated service, built and maintained by one person rather than a company with a support floor. That is a deliberate trade-off and you should know it before you rely on NOLO for anything critical.

Your contract is with the operator named in section 19, at the foot of this page. For anything at all, from a billing question to a formal complaint, write to nolo.ai.app@gmail.com.

3. What NOLO provides

AI-assisted chat in 30 languages; real-time web search with sources; image generation and image editing; image understanding; reading of PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text, Markdown and common code formats; creation of downloadable PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, Markdown and text files; voice dictation and read-aloud; charts, tables, diagrams, maps, QR codes and LaTeX; live weather, currency and market widgets; projects and spaces; conversation branching; local browser storage; optional encrypted Google Drive sync; and paid plans.

NOLO may change, improve, limit, suspend or remove any feature at any time, in particular where a provider withdraws a model, changes its pricing or policies, or where security, cost control, legal compliance or product quality require it. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan delivers, we will tell you and you may cancel.

4. Anonymous identity and what it costs you

NOLO works without an account. Your identity is a random identifier generated in your browser. This has consequences that are entirely on you, and we would rather be blunt about them:

  • Your chat history lives on your device. If you clear browser storage, switch device or uninstall, it is gone and we cannot restore it, because we never had a copy.
  • Your anonymous identifier is what links a paid plan to you. If you lose it and you did not enable Drive sync, we may be unable to restore access to a subscription you are paying for.
  • Optional Google Drive sync exists precisely to solve this. If you have a paid plan, use it.
  • Because we cannot identify you, we cannot verify a support request beyond the anonymous ID you provide.
  • You must not share paid access, or use multiple identifiers, in a way designed to circumvent limits or billing.

If you use the optional Google Sign-In you also accept Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for Google's own role. Section 10 of the Privacy Policy explains exactly what is accessed and how it is encrypted.

5. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 16, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is lower, to use NOLO, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a subscription. Because there is no account, we have no age verification beyond this requirement and the content rating on Google Play. If you are a parent or guardian and a minor has subscribed on your payment method, contact us or Google Play and we will help unwind it.

6. Professional, legal, financial, medical and regulated use

NOLO is not a law firm, attorney, accountant, tax adviser, financial adviser, doctor, therapist or any regulated professional service, and it does not provide legal, medical, tax, financial or investment advice.

  • Using NOLO creates no attorney-client relationship, professional engagement, fiduciary duty or privilege.
  • You are responsible for reviewing output, verifying sources, applying your own professional judgement, and meeting your duties to clients, courts, regulators and employers.
  • Do not use NOLO as the sole basis for any decision with legal, financial, medical, safety, employment, immigration, housing, credit or insurance consequences.
  • If you submit client data, personal data of other people, health data or privileged material, you are its controller and you are responsible for confirming that the provider chain described in the Privacy Policy is lawful and appropriate for your obligations. We do not currently offer a data processing agreement; ask before you rely on NOLO for that work.

7. Your content and AI output

What you submit

You keep ownership of everything you write, upload or create. You grant us only the limited, non-exclusive licence needed to process it in order to deliver the service, which includes relaying it to the AI, search, image, hosting and payment providers named in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train any model, ours or anyone else's, and we do not sell it. That licence ends when the request is served; nothing is retained for any other purpose.

What the AI produces

Subject to applicable law and the underlying providers' terms, output generated for you is yours to use, including commercially. But we make no warranty that output is accurate, current, complete, original, non-infringing or fit for your purpose. AI models produce confident, well-written mistakes. Generated images may resemble existing works or styles, and image rights vary by jurisdiction, so check before commercial use.

Files and exports

When NOLO builds a document, spreadsheet, image or export, review it before you send it to a client, file it, publish it or rely on it. Formatting, figures and citations can be wrong.

Feedback

If you send feedback through the in-app box or by email, we may use it to improve NOLO without obligation or compensation. In-app feedback is stored with no identifier attached, which also means we cannot link it back to you afterwards.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use NOLO to:

  • Break any law, regulation, court order, contract or third-party right.
  • Upload or process content you are not authorised to use or share.
  • Generate malware, credential theft, phishing, spam, or content designed to evade security controls.
  • Commit fraud, run scams, impersonate people or organisations, or create deceptive synthetic media or fabricated evidence.
  • Harass, threaten, exploit, sexually abuse or endanger anyone, and in particular any minor.
  • Generate illegal hate speech, extremist content, incitement to violence, or non-consensual sexual imagery.
  • Circumvent rate limits, reverse engineer access controls, resell or proxy access to the underlying models, scrape the service, or run automated bulk usage without our written permission.
  • Impose load that degrades the service for others or creates disproportionate cost.

The AI providers behind NOLO apply their own safety policies. A request may be refused or filtered upstream, outside our control, and that is not a service failure.

9. Plans and prices

PlanPriceWhat it is for
Fast€0Free to start, with a limited daily allowance.
Plus€7.99 / month, VAT includedA larger daily allowance and heavier tools, sized for daily use.
Pro€16.99 / month, VAT includedThe largest daily allowance, the high-context model and the top reasoning modes.
Daily reset€5.99, one-offRestores your allowance for a single heavy day without changing plan.

Prices in the Android app. Inside the Google Play app, the price you see is the one Google shows for your country, in your currency, including local tax. It may differ from the euro figures above. The Play price is the one that binds.

Daily allowances. Every plan has an allowance that resets each day rather than a balance that only shrinks. Different tools consume different amounts: image generation, large-context reasoning and deep search cost more than a short chat message. Allowances exist so that heavy use by a few does not make the service unviable for everyone, and we may adjust them; if we reduce what a paid plan delivers materially, we will tell you and you may cancel.

Price changes. We may change prices for the future. An existing subscription keeps its price until the change is notified to you in advance, and you may cancel before it takes effect. Google Play notifies Play subscribers of price changes under its own rules and, for increases, will ask you to accept.

10. How billing works, and where

This depends entirely on where you subscribed, and it matters, because it determines who you deal with for cancellations and refunds.

Subscribed on the webSubscribed in the Android app
Who takes the paymentStripe, on NOLO's behalf.Google, through Google Play Billing, under your Google account.
Who you are contracting with for the purchaseUs, with Stripe as payment processor.Google is the seller of record. Google's Play Terms of Service apply to the transaction.
What we receiveA Stripe customer ID and subscription status. Never your card number.A purchase token and product ID. Never your name, email or payment method.
Where you cancelThe billing portal in Settings, or by emailing us.Google Play → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel a Play subscription for you, because Google does not permit it.
Where you ask for a refundUs, at nolo.ai.app@gmail.com.Google Play first, under Google's refund policy. Write to us too if Google declines and you believe you have a statutory right.

Subscriptions renew automatically for successive monthly periods until cancelled. Once a day we re-check with Google or Stripe whether your subscription is still active, and paid features are withdrawn when it is not. If a payment fails, access may be suspended until it succeeds.

11. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the EEA or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, without giving a reason. To use it, email nolo.ai.app@gmail.com within 14 days of subscribing. You do not need a form or a particular wording.

The part most services hide. NOLO is digital content supplied immediately. Under EU consumer law we must ask you to expressly request immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. NOLO does not do that, because a subscription is delivered continuously rather than all at once. So our position, in plain terms: if you withdraw within 14 days we refund you, minus a proportionate amount for the days you actually had access. If you had barely used it, that is effectively a full refund. We would rather state this than rely on a checkbox that removes your rights.

Outside that window, payments are generally non-refundable, since each period is delivered as it is paid for. We will still refund where the law requires it, where a technical failure on our side meant you could not use what you paid for, or where we simply think it is fair. Ask us.

If you bought through Google Play, Google's own refund process applies first and Google decides it. Your statutory rights are unaffected, and if Google declines a refund you believe you are legally entitled to, write to us and we will look at it.

Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory consumer right you have under the law of your country.

12. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, with no cancellation fee and no retention obstacle course. Web subscribers use the billing portal in Settings; Play subscribers use Google Play → Subscriptions. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, then the plan reverts to Fast. Your local data is untouched by cancelling. Deleting it is a separate action, described at nolo-app.com/delete-account.

13. Availability, provider dependencies and beta features

NOLO is built on third-party AI, search, image, payment, hosting and data services. Features can fail, slow down, return errors, change behaviour or disappear because of provider outages, rate limits, safety filters, policy changes, model deprecations or network problems. We do not offer a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee.

Some features are explicitly under development: file exports, image editing, long-document processing, interactive previews and experimental tools. Those are provided as available. NOLO deliberately runs strong open-weights models rather than frontier models: it is cheaper, it asks nothing about you, and it will not match the very best models from the largest labs on raw reasoning. We say so on the website and we say so here.

14. The Android app and the standalone APK

NOLO's Android app is a Trusted Web Activity: it is the web app running inside a secure Android container, which is why it stays identical across platforms and updates without a store release. It is distributed on Google Play under the package name app.nolo.ai, and your use of it is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

We also publish a standalone APK for direct installation. If you install it, you are responsible for downloading it from the official link, for your device's security settings, and for deciding whether direct installation is appropriate for you. The APK may behave differently depending on Android version, system WebView, permissions and storage rules, and updates may require manual installation. Purchases made in the Play version are handled by Google Play Billing; the standalone APK uses web checkout.

15. Third-party services and content

NOLO relays your requests to the providers named in section 7 of the Privacy Policy, and their terms apply to their own processing. Web search results, live market and weather data, map tiles and photographs come from third-party sources; we do not control, verify or endorse them, and their accuracy is theirs, not ours. Links to external sites are provided for convenience only.

16. Suspension and termination

We may limit, suspend or block access where use appears abusive, unsafe, unlawful, fraudulent, or materially harmful to the service or to other users, and where a payment is disputed or reversed. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we terminate a paid plan without cause, we refund the unused portion of the period.

You may stop using NOLO at any time. Sections on content ownership, disclaimers, liability and governing law survive termination.

17. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

NOLO is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted operation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, nor for loss of profit, business, data, goodwill or opportunity, nor for decisions you made on the basis of AI output.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and €50.

Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights apply in full and are not affected by anything above.

18. Governing law, complaints and changes

These terms are governed by Romanian law and applicable European Union law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.

Complaints first, always. Write to nolo.ai.app@gmail.com. A real person reads it and we would far rather fix a problem than argue about it. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not currently bound to any alternative dispute resolution body.

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. For material changes affecting a paid plan we will give reasonable advance notice, and continued use after that means acceptance, unless your local law requires your explicit agreement, in which case we will ask for it.

If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

19. Legal identity

Operator of NOLO and the trader you contract with:
