# NOLO

> NOLO is a private AI chat that runs in your browser. No account, no email, no sign-up, no upsells. A private, independent alternative to ChatGPT, with real-time web search, AI image generation, document and spreadsheet creation, voice transcription, image understanding, and up to 1,000,000 tokens of context on the Pro plan, at honest, VAT-inclusive prices.

NOLO is an independent product (built by one person, not a venture-backed startup). Its core differentiator is privacy treated as plumbing rather than marketing: there is no account and no email, your identity is an anonymous recoverable ID, conversations are stored only on your own device, and the chat-model providers do not train on your messages.

NOLO is honest about its limits: it does NOT use frontier-level models, so it does not match the very top models from ChatGPT or Claude on raw intelligence. It competes on price, privacy, multilingual quality (30+ fully translated languages), and long-context capacity per euro.

## Plans

- Fast, Free (€0), for occasional use. Includes the Fast chat model, image understanding, voice transcription and document/image uploads. Does NOT include web search, image generation, live data or thinking mode.
- Plus, €7.99/month (VAT included), for daily use
- Pro, €16.99/month (VAT included), for serious work, up to ~1,000,000 tokens of context

Each plan has a generous daily token allowance that resets every day. There is no permanent "tokens left" pressure, you start fresh each day. A €5.99 one-off daily reset is available on the Plus and Pro plans instead of forcing a subscription upgrade; it is not available on the free plan. Payments on the web are processed by Stripe (NOLO does not store card data); subscriptions bought inside the Android app are billed and cancelled through Google Play.

## Privacy

- No email required; account is an anonymous ID (e.g. nolo_xxxx_xxxx)
- Conversations stored only on the user's device (browser storage, not encrypted at rest)
- No selling of data, no training on chats, no cross-site tracking, no ads, no advertising SDKs
- NOLO runs Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights: cookieless, aggregated, served from NOLO's own domain, with no visitor identifier and nothing that follows you to other sites. Disclosed rather than described as "no analytics"
- The chat models are open-weights and we publish them: Fast runs gpt-oss-20b, Plus runs gpt-oss-120b, and Pro runs DeepSeek V4 Flash. Voice transcription uses Whisper; image generation uses a third-party proprietary model. Image understanding (reading/describing an uploaded photo) runs on a separate shared vision model, Minimax M3, used across every plan, not the chat model itself. The providers are named publicly: Groq (Fast and Plus chat, plus Whisper), Fireworks AI (Pro chat and image understanding), fal.ai (image generation), Tavily (web search), Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (the usage database). Groq has Zero Data Retention enabled on NOLO's account and Fireworks applies it to open models by default, so neither stores your messages; the honest exception is fal, which does collect the image prompts sent to it. - Optional tools (web search, images, market data, weather) receive only a minimal keyword, such as a search term or a city, never your full conversation, and follow their own policies
- If the anonymous ID is lost, the account cannot be recovered (the trade-off of skipping email)
- A public transparency page documents exactly what leaves the device per action (chat, search, image, voice, sync), what NOLO's servers store (pseudonymous daily counters for 30 days, rolling-window and hashed-IP rate-limit buckets for 7 days; never chat content, never a readable IP), and the honest limits: local history is not encrypted at rest, and Drive sync is strong obfuscation rather than zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption.
